Rice or What...?

Hooray! It's a new world order! It's time that rice, the common diet of Liberians is changed. As the American economy staggers and lawmakers contemplate alternatives over gasoline, so is the rest of the world suffering the direct or indirect waves.

First, what we Liberian people fail to realize to this day is that we hold the winning lottery ticket in our hands, only through self-sufficiency. Earth day is celebrated around the world. We must use our rich soil to produce either this "gold dust" call rice or some other substitute such as potato, yam, eddo, and most especially palm and yucca/cassava. Because we settle for only consumption, we always will be on the losing end. The US proliferated peanuts!

For example: Out of all the plants grown in the world, multi-productive crops like PALM and CASSAVA, if fully produced right in Liberia will lead to socio-economic boost for the country. With PALM, we can reap internationally from the production and sale of its oil, wine, soap, medicinal, jewelry, basket, mat, fishing trap, strainer, scrub, foods from palm-butter, palm cabbage, and more. Take a look at YUCCA (CASSAVA), we have the potential to lead the global market in the production of yucca root, farina, fufu, cassava leaf, bread, salad, starch, glue, live-stock food, you name it.

Secondly, revenue from resources like gold and diamond etc., when reinvested into building manufacturing plants in Liberia , will immediately create jobs, development and steer us to the factor of self-reliance.

Thirdly, we must educate our people. This is the new world order: Formal child soldiers, Corpo-guard (soldier), war-torn generation must become scientists; Holle holle (drivers & bus-boys), Taxi drivers, motorcycle-boys  must become engineers; Market women, yanna-boys, water-sellers, must become entrepreneurs. Prostitutes, single moms, pregnant teens, the disabled and our young people must always find opportunities.

Commentary: Common people are not interested in politics and power; they want profession and prosperity.
