          A Legacy of Public Service Integrity

WITH THE GOAL OF WORKING WITH LIBERIANS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN EDUCATION IN THE WORKPLACE & IN LIFE, THE DR. HARRY F. MONIBA FOUNDATION IS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

Washington, D.C., March 16, 2009 -- The family and friends of the late Dr. Harry F. Moniba, the former Vice President of Liberia, officially announce the launching of a 501 (C) (3) foundation in his honor. With its mission as a U.S. nonprofit public benefit charity to promote Dr. Moniba's legacies of nonviolence and public service integrity, the foundation’s aim is to provide educational opportunities that make a difference in the lives of deserving youth in postwar Liberia.  The foundation will strive to bring about several programs, one of which is to provide college scholarships to graduating high school seniors around Liberia that will cover the student’s tuition and book requirements; another is to build and maintain a national library and computer center, for which land has already been acquired in the capital city of Monrovia.  In order to maximize the effectiveness of every donation and to ensure transparency, the foundation will provide donors with an annual account of monies raised and spent. 

If Liberia is to be rebuilt into the great country that it once was, it needs the hard work and dedication of every Liberian.  Just as importantly, the country needs the continued assistance of friends of Liberia.   Because the total number of scholarships awarded is based solely on the amount of money raised, the foundation is asking for the support of all.  The organization’s founder, Mrs. Minita K. Moniba, stated, “Educating a nation is a lofty, yet necessary, goal to ensure that we, Liberians, have more opportunities than ever before, and with enough progress, will be able to solve our own problems.”

The Foundation is managed by a highly qualified, yet unpaid, Board of Directors & Board of Advisors that consist of 25 individuals who are responsible for the overall policy and direction of the Dr. Harry F. Moniba Foundation.
